What app lets you buy NFTs

The best example of a real-world NFT-like item would be the Mona Lisa: Anyone can print out a picture of the Mona Lisa with no real value, but the original painting in the Louvre is worth millions. To get more technical, NFTs are programmed and stored on the Ethereum blockchain, making it more similar to a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin or Ether, which also exists on Ethereum.

NFTs: what they are, and why they’re revolutionizing digital art

Back in March 2006, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey tweeted, “just setting up twttr.” Fifteen years later, he’s selling that tweet for $2.5 million. The reason for this is the newest piece of tech in the art scene: NFTs.

NFTs, like their siblings blockchain and cryptocurrency, get increasingly impossible to understand the more you learn about them. Nonetheless, let’s start at the top and work our way down to the details.

In their simplest form, NFTs are a digital way of representing ownership of unique items. The term itself stands for “non-fungible token.” Essentially, when a piece of digital art becomes an NFT, only one of it exists in the world, and as with anything that is rare, the price skyrockets.

This idea of unique ownership in a digital landscape isn’t new, but there haven’t been methods to implement it. Blockchain solved these problems by providing an infrastructure that could properly verify all transactions and prevent any dodgy behavior.

NFTs can be anything digital — and that means literally anything, ranging from “sorta makes sense,” to “some people have too much money.” For example, on marketplace Nifty, musical artist Grimes sold a 56-second long music video for $388,938. On the same site, a looped GIF of a poorly drawn Gucci ghost was bought for $3,600.

The list goes on, with albums, GIFs and other media being sold for insane prices. To be clear, NFTs can theoretically be any price; if only one person bids on a particular NFT, then its price would remain low. But the artificial scarcity causes large bidding wars that eventually drive the price up. But a large question remains: Why would anyone want to buy a digital version of a Gucci ghost they could otherwise have for free?

While each consumer has different reasons, there are some common trends. Some like the idea of collecting digital art and forming their own collection. One of the bigger reasons is its investing power; users can put their money into an NFT and sell it for more money later on for a profit.

The idea may sound alien at first, but the basic concept isn’t anything new. People have been buying and collecting classic cars and fine art for centuries, and even recently people have been buying and selling rare Pokemon cards for millions of dollars. NFTs are simply the digital evolution of the same trading ecosystem.

As with anything, NFTs come with a slew of pros and cons. The biggest benefit is the ability to add value to digital artists and creators. Smaller artists can earn much more money than they normally would through commissions alone. Not only can they make money off individual pieces, but some NFTs can be programmed to give royalties to the artists. Essentially, anytime their art is bought or sold, a small percentage of the price would go back to the artist.

Additionally, artists can sell and interact directly with their audiences. The blockchain format of NFTs allows artists to bypass agents and other middlemen and go straight to their buyers. Culturally, it allows individuals to participate in a new form of collecting, like how some wealthier individuals collect fine art.

One drawback is, ironically, ownership. Since anyone can sell anything as an NFT, some accounts have been stealing other individuals’ digital art — and even tweets — and selling them as NFTs, keeping all the profit without crediting the original artist. Another major drawback is the environmental impact of NFTs. The concern comes from how cryptocurrencies like NFTs are managed; they’re “mined,” which is done by running intensive processes on several computers, which requires power.

The updated version of CarBridge is entirely free-of-charge to those who purchased it when it was originally released, but will cost $4.99 for new customers who can grab it from the following repo in Cydia: https://repo.chariz.io/

CarBridge, the extremely popular jailbreak tweak initially released for jailbroken iOS 11 devices, has been re-released with support for iOS 12. This tweak is particularly relevant to anyone with a jailbroken iOS 12 device who also uses Apple’s CarPlay system in their vehicle.

There are countless people around the world who regularly enjoy the Apple CarPlay experience in their vehicle.

This could be within a vehicle which offers CarPlay as part of the original manufacturer’s specification or within a car or van which has had a CarPlay-compatible head unit retrofitted to give the owner access to this in-vehicle entertainment system. Regardless of which category you fall into, CarBridge extends what is possible with CarPlay and also removes some of the limitations put in place by Apple.

The tweak had previously been released for iOS 11 devices with the aim of utilizing “the full power” of apps without the aforementioned limitations in place. This functionality has now been ported over to jailbroken iOS 12 devices meaning that you can jailbreak your device using unc0ver, install CarBridge via the Chariz repository within Cydia, and immediately start harnessing the power of the package in your CarPlay-enabled vehicle.

From a functionality perspective, you get access to the power of being able to launch any app from your device and have it mirrored to the display in the vehicle via CarPlay. This means that you are no longer limited to applications which third-party developers have built CarPlay support into and which have been vetted and approved by Apple as being the correct fit to be used in this manner. It also means that you are can also remove the restrictions placed by Apple in regards to the default CarPlay apps. Have no use whatsoever for the “Now Playing” app? Well simply remove it with CarBridge and no longer have it as a distraction.

It is worth remembering that although CarBridge is extremely powerful, it isn’t capable of working miracles. Most apps haven’t been built or designed with in-car usage in mind so they don’t always display perfectly when bridged through this tweak. It is also designed to function with CarPlay systems which have a touchscreen display. Those who use a joystick or control pad, such as in a lot of BMW or Mercedes vehicles, will be able to see the app but won’t be able to interact with it.

The updated version of CarBridge is entirely free-of-charge to those who purchased it when it was originally released, but will cost $4.99 for new customers who can grab it from the following repo in Cydia: https://repo.chariz.io/

Have a car with no CarPlay but an Android headunit? You can get CarPlay in your car using this USB dongle: Apple CarPlay USB Dongle Adapter With Steering Wheel Control For Any Car.

And, if you haven’t jailbroken yet, check out our video tutorial below on how to jailbreak iOS 12:

Have you ever been watching a TV show or a movie and wondered where you could buy the clothes? Well, Spylight is the answer.

Spylight is a nifty new app for iOS that allows you to “shop the screen” quite literally. There are two ways you can do it – by holding your phone up to the TV while the show or movie is on, the app will identify it by syncing with the audio and show you the clothes that are available, or you can opt to browse the database of hundreds of TV shows and movies, and the clothes they feature.

Got plans next June?

Tickets to TNW 2022 are available now!

The company works with studios to identify the items worn by actors on set and with TV shows, the clothes will become available on the app as soon as the show airs.

For example, when the newest episode of Better Call Saul goes out tomorrow on Netflix, the clothes from that episode will also go live on Spylight at the same time. And if something you fancy is bespoke, vintage or sold out, the app will suggest a very close match as an alternative.

SP2

The app itself is simple to use. The interface is sleek and makes it easy to search by TV show, movie, character name, item name or style, brand and actor. If there’s a show or a character you are particularly inclined to identify with, you can follow them and when you log in, you will get a Facebook-like newsfeed of the relevant latest additions.

The app is free and is available for iOS now. There is no confirmation of an Android version being released yet.

The feature is an even bigger boon for players with metered or slow internet connections, as they can pre-load games ahead of time and purchase them when the download is done.

New Xbox app beta lets you download Xbox games even before you buy them

Xbox's unified experience approach is extending to mobile.

Microsoft has rolled out a feature-rich update to its Xbox app on mobile. Currently available in beta, and only on Android devices, the new Xbox app brings together Xbox's various services and offerings under the one umbrella.

The updated app essentially works as a companion to Xbox, letting users join party chat, clear notifications and share clips and screenshots. It also includes Xbox Game Streaming, which lets you play Xbox games you have installed on your phone remotely.

But one massive feature users of the new beta discovered is the ability to queue game downloads remotely, even if you do not own the game. Queuing up a download from the app displays a message that reads, "If you do not already own this game, purchase will be required to play this game. Game sold separately. ISP fees may apply."

As noted by Resetera forum members, this is a big help for players who plan to buy physical versions of games, because it allows them to jump in immediately rather than having to wait for big day one updates. This is possible on Xbox because the console treats all versions of the same game equally, so you could buy a physical copy, install it, sell the disc and re-buy it digitally - all using the same install.

The feature is an even bigger boon for players with metered or slow internet connections, as they can pre-load games ahead of time and purchase them when the download is done.

Beyond that, the app can also be used to set up the upcoming Xbox Series X and Series S, while the consoles' firmware update. You can try it out yourself on the Google Play Store.

Building hype before launching a new product remains one of the top priorities for every brand.

What is an NFT?

First things first: What is an NFT, anyway?

NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token, and it represents a digital asset recorded on the blockchain. Unlike dollar bills, gold, or cryptocurrencies, NFTs are interchangeable because each token has a unique value (hence the non-fungible part.) In economics, fungibility refers to the property of a good or a commodity whose individual parts and units are interchangeable and indistinguishable.

As digital representations of properties, each NFT is one-of-a-kind, so they are considered digital collectibles.

NFTs can be anything digital—a photo, a video, a GIF, etc. And while anyone can copy or download that file (just like there are many copies of physical art), buying an NFT gives you proof of ownership of the digital asset.

Even though the concept of NFTs might look complicated, the logic behind them is quite simple: artists get a platform on which they can sell their art, and buyers can support their favorite artists, build their collections, and/or earn from the difference between the buy and sell price.

NFTs have been around since 2014 when artist Kevin McCoy minted the first NFT named “Quantum.” Today, we’re witnessing a boom in the market for digital collectibles. According to a study released by NonFungible.com , the NFT market tripled in 2020, with the total value of transactions increasing by 299% year over year to more than $250 million.

And things are just starting to heat up: Data from DappRadar shows the NFT space generated $10.67 billion in trading volume during Q3, an increase of 704% from the previous quarter.

The NFT craze made digital art extremely popular. Names like CryptoPunks, Art Blocks, and Bored Apes are everywhere.

However, brands and eCommerce retailers are also dipping their toes into the NFT space.

Today, you can own some of the NBA’s best moments , buy a “Transformative Taco” from Taco Bell, or grab a “1 Byte Favourites ,” — which are digital images of pizza by Pizza Hut Canada.

But these aren’t just for legacy brands. Ecommerce retailers of all sizes can get creative and use NFTs in new, interesting ways.

When you're in the mood to go see a movie, the IMDb app is a great resource for finding showtimes and checking out trailers. But now it can also help you avoid long ticket lines at the theater.

Amazon-owned IMDb on Monday updated its iOS and Android apps with the ability to purchase tickets through Fandango directly from your phone or tablet. The new ticket purchase option is only available to U.S. users.

The app makes it simple to find showtimes in your area and purchase tickets. Once you've found a movie you're interested in and selected a nearby theatre, you can specify a time, and the number of adult, senior, and/or child tickets you need. To pay for your purchase, you can either sign in with an existing Fandango account or checkout as a guest with your email address.

The update also brings some other goodies for iOS users, including additional celebrity bios and the ability to buy movies and TV shows on DVD or Blu-ray though Amazon Mobile. To purchase movies, you'll need to have the Amazon Mobile app installed on your device, but the IMDb app will now provide a link if you don't have it yet.

In addition, based on user demand, IMDb has updated the movie and celebrity pages on its iPhone app to include one-tap access to full cast and full filmography information, which now scrolls vertically. The app also features a "cute little Watchlist flag" almost everywhere, letting you easily save movies and shows you want to watch later.

The updated apps are available for download from the App Store and Google Play. IMDb warned that this will be the last update that supports iOS 5. Future updates will require iOS 6 and above.
